I don't know if I am experiencing a placebo effect but I had a few spare moments to tweak with the car over the weekend. My tweaking was limited to moving the spark plug wires (not removing but just grabbing the boot and twisting) and disconnecting and reconnecting some of the electrical connections for various sensors around the engine. My instinct tells me that this is a good thing to do but I am not really sure why.
But wouldn't you know it, the car now definitely seems to be more crisp and responsive. Does this make any sense or am I just imagining?

I used to own a BMW 535i with an electronic automatic transmission. Every so often the transmission would go into 'crawl mode'. That is to say, it stopped shifting and would just stay in 3rd gear so you could 'crawl' to the service department. I refused to believe there was a need for a new $4500 transmission. I opened the hood, started unplugging and plugging back in every component, solenoid, ECM, fuse, relay etc. I could find. Guess what? Never again did the transmission go into 'crawl mode'.
I think you accomplished the same thing. I spent 5 years as a Computer Tech and I can't tell you how many times a part worked again just by removing and reinstalling it.

I should have mentioned the car was driving fine before my "tweaking". I had plugs and wires replaced about a year ago, along with fuel filter replace, intake manifold gasket replace, 1.6 roller rocker install and valve spring upgrade. The car has been like a new car since that time although the gas mileage suffered somewhat (I suspect due to the roller rockers).
