Default The Quest for 10's

Ok first let me say that this will be a piece by piece project with 10 sec as my ultimate goal. Right now my car is pretty stock with LT1 exhaust waiting to go on. I have a 90 6sp. My next part to get is going to be headers followed by an intake.

My choice for headers are the TPIS ones. My intake choice is either miniram or FIRST intake.

I'm looking to make the upgrades once and not keep repeating. Are these parts acceptable for my goal? I know they may be over kill in the beginning but I'm not really worried about that, just the over all end product.

Eventually I'll ask for cam and head advice, thanks.

TPIS headers and the mini-ram will carry you into the 10's in NJ. If you end up racing some where with crazy elevation (Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, etc...) you might not get there, but at sea level those 2 parts will support a 10 second ET.

What are your drive train upgrade plans? It's tough to keep the rear end together with a 6 speed, but it can be done. If you plan to swap to an auto, making the rear end survive is much easier.

If you decide to stick with the 6 speed (like I have) let me know. I've broken a whole world of rear end parts trying to get my stuff to survive at the track, but I think I've finally got it ironed out to where the car will reliably sixty in the mid 1.6 range. You might be able to benefit from some of the mistakes that I made along the way.

Good luck!

Yea I'm sticking with the 6sp so I'm sure I'll be asking about upgrades.

Any experience with the FIRST intake? I know the miniram is a good choice, but I love the TPI look. Of course go before show though.
