heres some more shots of my interior, i finished painting the door panels(ignore the thumb) they where ugly scratched up brown before, and theres a good shot of the door sill, i changed it to black and painted the vinyl pad on it. Total cost about 12 dollars in spray paint and 10 hours work. I have to replace the carpet, im gonna order the strips from mid america, i'll probably just get the entire carpet kit, it looks like it will be too hard to replace the moulded pieces with just normal carpet.
the panels arent perfect, theres some ripples and i managed to glue most of the peeled away parts, but for what i cost im happy..the camera doesnt do the glossy finish justice
I restored my entire interior to basic black....but the door sills are unavailable for my car; so I cleaned them with acetone and used some reg engine black paint and 4 years later they still look great! :flag
found the paint at the local canadian tire (our version of pep boys)
i used a can of black satin exterior trim paint for plastic..3 coats, 2 coats of clear and some armour all, for the vinyl i used some cheapo black vinyl paint. Both spray cans..3 coats on the vinyl and some armour all..i am extremley pleased with the results., the stuff was 3 dollars for the plastic and 4 for the vinyl..it took 2 cans plastic paint for both sills and the door plastic trim and a can and 1/2 for the doors and vinyl pads on the sills.
For everything i washed it throughly with soap and water, and cleaned with an alchohol compound mix i had at home (95% ethanol) it eats the plastic so be warned you have to paint after.
ohh they also had a spray carpet dye the same brand as the vinyl paint, i was considering it but my carpet is pretty much rotten, i can pick pieces of it off..
My interior was pretty faded from sitting out in the sun with the top down all the time. Still in good shape, but the color was gone from most of the carpet and the console lid & door panels were an eyesore.
I went to the car parts store and got a couple cans of Plasticote vinyl and fabric spray paint, in a can. I was going to give it a shot, figuring the worst that could happen is a big mess, and I would be replacing the parts anyway.
The only prep work I did was with some Fantastic, some rags and a little effort. Once I rinsed and dried the parts I began spraying. I put 3 very light coats on each door panel and was very pleased with the results. It's amazing what you can do with a little work and a little patience!
Next thing I tried was the carpet. Cleaned up, fluffed up with a brush, and shot with the paint, the stuff looks almost good as new. So far I have just done the sills, but the results are dramatic. I should have taken before and after pics.
Anyway, I would recommend spending a little cash and giving this a try for you guys who have interior pieces in good shape, but are faded. I was using the same color, so I can't vouche for what kind of job it does on a color change. Also, one thing to mention; keep shaking that spray can between bursts! The paint I used had a tendency to spurt if I didn't keep it mixed at all times.

Do you know of a cloth upholstery dye? My sport seats are stock blue and I can't find an aftermarket supplier for BLACK CLOTH upholstery kits. Plenty of leather and vinyl kits but no cloth available. There're in good condition so I thought I could get away with dying them.
