Default White smoke! Need Help!!!

My vette is 1986 has forged pistons and cam it was rebuilt 4k ago. I know its not oil because its white smoke and the oil level is the same. So could it be that my injectors are old? The chassis has 213XXX engine 4K and tranny about 2K. I smell some gas when I shut is off to! So it has to be the injectors right?

Check your oil for signs of water/coolant. Check the coolant for signs of oil. Pull the spark plugs and look for signs of unburnt fuel or black tips. Does it smoke the whole time the engine is running or just at start up? The smell is likely the evap canister or a leak in the fuel system. Look around the injectors for fuel on the intake manifold (bad o-rings, connection at the fuel rail (bad o-rings,llines or connection), connection at the fuel filter (bad connection), and connection at the tank (bad connection or lines.

Also check fuel pressure leak down and ohm the injectors. Black smoke is usually associated with unburnt fuel.

Did you replace the valve seals when you rebuilt the engine?

Also,
some race engine builders like the white teflon seals. They suck.

Its been my experience that if its white smoke its burning off water...coolant. I would keep a keen eye on your oil level...it most likely will rise being that coolant is getting into the oil and then it might start looking milkshakey. I also wouldn't do to much driving on it until you figure out the cause, apparently oil and water don't make a good mix for lubrication.
