Has anyone installed this system. I understand it is well engineered and installs without too much hassle. I am going to purchase it but am confused by the options offered. Touring option vs. resonator option. Whats the difference ? Do you need both ? Thanks :chevy
Call them up and talk. They seem very enthusiastic to help out. Don't remember the number but you can google search for power effects. They have an 800 number. They're in Michigan (I think).
Check your local laws governing exhaust lengths. I seem to remember something about a requirement that the exhaust, to be legal, needs to extend beyond the rear axle. Local cops may hassle with it. Good luck :flag
You just need to have the exhaust extend outside of the passenger compartment. Ford F-150s (when they first changed the body style) had an exhaust system that terminated in front of the rear tires.
I have Side Effect on my 96 vette. Their customer service is second to none. I can't
recommend them higher on this point alone. Being a acoustic engineer, I can say that
there is any point in geting the touring option. You will not notice the difference. Btw,
the exhaust suffers from the same problems that many other brands suffer from...
resonance. It takes some getting used to but, in my opinion, it's well worth it.
Every Vette with aftermarket exhaust I've been in seemed to have very similar resonance. At around 2100 RPMs, it is high enough that you have to raise your voice to carry on a conversation. On that same note, if you let the windows down in a Vette with Side Effects, you will become addicted to the sound. IMHO, it is the best exhaust note possible for a Chevy V-8. :chevy
