ok all
today i went in to check for valve leak and other stuff
i went to tighten my header bolts and saw something i dont think is right
passenger sider header tube closest to the firewall
there is a tube that comes up from the heder tube looks like something should be mounted to it but there is nothing there
should this tube be caped off... its open now or did somebody forget todo something
I also have the 2149 headers. When I installed them, I fabricated a tube that would connect to my intake manifold for the EGR. Fast forward a couple of months down the road, and I go to install some roller rockers. I disconnect the EGR tube that I had fabricated because it goes over the valve cover a little bit, and I notice that there is no carbon on the inside of it. When I look down the flanged tube on the header, I see that is is welded to the outside of the primary (there is no hole for any exhaust gases to pass through). So I drilled a hole so that it could work. Maybe my set of header were an accident, but if yours are the same way, you won't need to cap that off.

85 vette with hooker 2149 headers
i do not know how to post pictures or i would
Before you panic - verify that the tube is drilled out into the header tube if it isn't - no need to cap it - 2149's I had that tube welded on but wasnt drilled through
On the '85 you do not need that tube. You can hack it off if you like, or cap it off. There should be the header pipe inside that tube opening so no problem with using the car.
thank you all...it is not drilled through.......it had me very curious considering i failed emissions with high N20 so i figured possibly EGR
now im back to square 1
