I have noticed that the front brake pads on the new Vette's and most new GM products are dusting very heavily. Have they switched to BMW pads or just selected the low bidder from China?
As I'm getting ready for some new front pads can anyone make a recommendation on good pads so I don't get caught up in the front dusting problem? Any help will be appreciated.
dusting is rather normal with brake pads. I don't understand why people get all bent about it. It's much like farting and breathing... it's a fact of life.
The solution to dusting is keeping the wheels clean. I highly recommend using Simple Green on the rims and all will be fine. Just don't let the dust bake into the finish.
With all of that said, I have had great success with Hawk pads. Check out www.tirerack.com for a great price.

Really? thought they were state of the art, top of the line, best performing break pads ever! ....
Hardly.
I spend a few thousand miles/year on road courses. I wouldn't think of using a typical "low dust" ceramic pad unless I wanted to experence brake fade and stuff the car into the wall or another car.
You're thinking of ceramic rotors and composite pads. Here's a nice set for a Porsche for a mere $14,000...
