I remember putting a Hypertech Chip in my last 93 Vette but that was 14 years ago. I am tempted to put one in my latest 93 but want to know a lot more about it before I spend the money. Are there chips that give you more than 15 HP without major mods being done to the car? Will it hurt the car? Is there a chip out there that can also transfer info to your PC now? What is the best recommended chip for the LT1? I seem to recall that there were 3 Hypertech chips available back then but oly one of them required major changes. I would really appreciate some good qualified replies. No opinions please though. I offer myself opinions and get screwed every time.

Hypertechs do very little aside from allowing the fans to kick on earlier. To make some real gains from tuning, the car should be tuned on a dyno or by someone who has been working with tuning. An off the shelf chip will not produce much if any gains. It will not hurt the car, but even with it being tuned by a guru on a dyno, 15hp w/out doing anything else would be quite a bit.
Parts such as an emulater and a socket assembly for the ecm, allow the ecm to then interface w/a comp.with the use of special software and cables for tuning. A laptop can also be used for monitoring, w/software and cable. through the ALDL.

Youve got a 94 dont you Vetteblack? They dont take a chip mate, the stock one is hard soldered into the board in the PCM, and it is reprogramed as often as you like. You cant take it out and replace it, the system doesnt work like that
