on the Sumitomo HTR Z II tire which has a unique tread design, is there a "direction" of the mounting on the tire to the rim?.... in effect, does the tread run as an "arrow" (so-to-speak) facing forward or backward?...thanks...anyone have any bad experiences with this tire?
EDITED; Just found out what i needed to know as far as direction goes

Reason: additional
So tell US already! Some of us are purchasing tires in the very near future.
...they ARE directional in tread design and rotation! That i already know......however, i don't even own them yet but, i will after 10am today.....that is all the info i have at this time!

Reason: grammar corrections
I just got a set of these tires on Monday. Have only been able to put the rears on as the tire shop put the fronts on backwards. (The sawblades are going in the wrong direction).
Yes there is a rotation arrow on the tire sidewall. Yes the tread design goes foreward....looks very similar to the GSD3 tread. Will get the fronts corrected today and on the car this afternoon.
Tire Rack has these tires for a super good price right now. ONLY trouble is that they are not made in a 285...have to go with 275 for the rear.

...as in my previous post, i already stated that i was aware of the rotational requirements.....and i also got someone to beat tire racks prices and thew in a road hazzard warranty ta boot.....
I have been looking at those tires as well. Didnt realize they were directional. Please let us know how you like them, and could we find out who had the great deal you found?

....i was running bf goodrich kdws tires and immediately noticed that these tires were significantly quieter...i have not had it on the interstate yet but will try to this weekend....i like the tread design as the roads get quite slippery here in florida. ...after hydroplaning a few times i decided to make comparisons in tread design....the current tires have a significant amount of tread that would appear to channel water off to the sides........
....do what I did....move up to 18's in the rear and you can run 285 35r18s without having to mess with the speedo. The Sumis you all are looking at have great dry cornering grip! As for driving in the wet.....doesn't fiberglass rust when it gets wet?!!

...my people beat the hell out of tire racks price...i also would rather keep the stock "stuff" (sizes) on the car, and have the same tires all the way around so that i can rotate them when need be...and YES, fiberglass does "RUST" when wet....

Who are you're people? ....and I never drive mine in the rain intentionally. The Sumi's were ok the one or two times I did drive in the wet, but that particular model is basically a dry traction tire. I know you guys in Fla deal with the nearly daily showers so it really shouldn't matter unless youare in a daily driver
Have them, great tires, directional yes, and dot balance, make sure your installer knows how to install on rim... may require adjustments for balance, tires come with instructions.
I have put about 500 miles on my Sumis since I had them mounted on my '96 CE LT4. I replaced the 11 year old Eagles that were hard as stone. The Sumitomos are excellent. They have an agressive looking tread pattern and are sticky enough and give a great ride.
And yes they are directional tires. Just make sure the arrows on the tires are pointing to the front of the car.

Trebor
mine are riding very nicely but, still haven't gotten them on the interstate yet.....as far as directional, that was ALREADY ANSWERED in posts 3,5,6,11,16
I looked it up for you, they are directional. There is an arrow on the wheel showing the direction. Then the wheels may be directional to!
.......thanks for the reply HOWEVER, i have been aware of the information you have stated fpor some time now. the 88's (at least mine) has CHROME sawblades which are "directional" and so are the tires....
