It's held on by a c-clip with two open slots on the top of it. You need to get a small flat tip screwdiver in there and simply pop the clip off. It can bee a pain in the azz if you're hands are big. Best thing to do is get everything else disconnect first to give you more room to manouver it around. Get it half way off with the screwdriver, then by hand the rest of the way so you don't loose it.

Are you pulling the handles to restore them?

I did that just last weekend. Remove the "E" clip from the shaft directly behind the lock cylinder, and slide the lock rod arm and lock position (theft deterrent) switch off. Remove the clip and latch (handle) control rod. Finally, remove the two, tin, thread cutting nuts and backing plates, and lift the handle off to the outside of the car.

RACE ON!!!
