Default are all ltx blocks the same?

Tomorrow I am going to look at a complete engine that some shop has for sale ....have no idea of year or origin. I will be sending the block to the machine shop to be prepped for my 396. I am hoping that it is a 2 bolt main so that I can have it machined for splayed caps. I know that I will have to use a late model front cover for it to work right with my 1996 OBDII but I am unaware of any differences in the actual block. Anyone studied up on this?

So basically you want a F body block that came from the 93-97 camaros and firebirds. It was 2 bolt compared to the 4's we have. Everything is interchangable (heads, cams, flywheels, intakes, front covers, etc,). The B body block that came out of the impalas also is 2 bolt but came with iron heads. if it still has the fuel line on it, the F bodies exit toward the driver side and on corvettes they go to the passenger for quick reference. Coil is on the driver for the F body and passenger for our Y bodies. Hope this helps.

From all I've read, the blocks are the same except for the main caps; Vettes having four bolt and others 2. I also read that the only way to tell the difference is to drop the oil pan and have a look-see.
