Newbie C4 Owner - Suggestions?
Pardon me if this is posted incorrectly. I am new at this.
I recently acquired a Torch Red 95 C4. It has 63K miles. It is a basket case and needs restoration. But it runs good. There was virtually no paperwork with the car. It had 285 tires all the way around and those were immediately replaced with Michelin Riken Raptor 255's in front and 285's in back. The tire shop had to destroy the locking lug nuts since there was no key anywhere in the car. The motor was overheating and it had regular antifreeze. A local Chevy dealer replaced a leaking water pump gasket and bad thermostat, flushed the system and filled with Dexcool. The broken antenna was also replaced so I am now able to listen to the radio.
Everything on the car seems to work just fine. There is front end body damage and a local body shop specializing in Corvettes is going to replace the hood and front bumper soon.
I have changed the oil and filter (Mobile 1) and the Change Oil light is on, and I cannot figure out how to turn it off.
There are some scuffs in the interior and I want to replace carpet and other pieces that are worn.
The ride quality seems quite good, although I feel the shocks might be worn. I am wondering if there are Bilstein shocks available as replacement units.
The Helms user and shop manuals have been ordered and are on the way.
So, I have subscribed to this forum hoping for some sage advice about the restoration project. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
BTW, my regular daily driver, a 99 TA WS6, is in the performance shop for new valvetrain and cam. The cc 218-224-114 cam was flatspotted. Thus, I am now driving the Vette. Some photos of the TA are at http://www.dutson.net/PhotoAlbum/Keith/caminstall.html.

I tried the link to my site and it failed. The problem is the period on the end. It should be http://www.dutson.net/PhotoAlbum/Keith/caminstall.html
(without period)
A photo of the Vette is at http://www.dutson.net/Misc/Pa280023.jpg

1... Turn on Ign, do not start car
2... Press the ENG/MET button and release it, then within 5 seconds press it again
3... Within 5 seconds press and hold the gauges button and hold the button in. While the button is held in the change oil light will flash
4... Continue holding the gauges button in until the chage oil light stops flashing and goes out. This should take about ten seconds.
I hope this helps you
