Finally had a stormless day here in SC. Decided to get the Vette out on a short drive. Got it uncovered, sat down in the car and the frustration began. This car has always had intermitent starting problems. Today, it flooded like hell. I had to floor it to get it started, and it blew alot of white smoke when it fired. Took it on a ten mile drive and drove perfect. Went to the store for about ten minutes came back out and it flooded again. Had to floor it to start it again. There are no stored codes in the car, good fuel line pressure, and runs perfect once started. It does have a bit of a lumpy idle, but not really any worse than my dad's 2005. So, do I have a ECM on death's door, or are my Multec's acting up, not very experienced with fuel injected cars having starting issues. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Test the injector coils with an ohm meter and pull the spark plugs and take a look. Does the fuel pressure drop off quickly after pressure is built and key turned off?
I don't really know how to ohm on the injectors, is there special way of doing this? I check the plugs earlier and they all look good, they only have about 2000 miles on them. As for the fuel pressure, it does drop off after you turn the car off, not real fast, but does drop off. So I am assuming that my injectors are leaking?
Sounds like you have a leak in the fuel system. I the fuel pressure does not hold in one spot for 3-5 min, then they are likely leaking. If they are leaking you should have noticed some raw fuel on the tip of the spark plugs also. Remove the gas door and rubber boot. Get a pair of vise grips ready and turn the key on and quickly pinch off the fuel hose going to the right/passenger side of the car. If the pressure holds, the leak is in the tank. By doing this you will eliminate a leak in the tank and the leak will be forward of the tank. If you do not smell fuel around the car, pull the fuel pressure regulator vac line and look for gas in it. If none, then consider the injectors leaking.
Get an ohm meter and disconnect the injector wiring harnesses. You will see the injectors have 2 terminals. Touch one terminal with the red ohm meter lead and the other terminal with the black lead. They should read ~16-17 ohms OR all ohm over 10 ohms and very close to each other. If any fall short of these numbers then you will need to replace the Multecs because they are not servicable.

Thanks for the reply on this. I was reading another post about injectors and seems that picking new ones is a nightmare. I definetly do not want to go back to Multecs. I have heard that Bosch injectors in the earlier C4s have proven pretty reliable. I don't think that I need to do anything immediatly as the car runs good once started. I will continue to watch the post about injectors and try and make a decision from the information flowing from the other post. Aside from the Multecs, is it possible the starting problems are from the Reman ECM?
