Default Hey Miniram guys.....

It says on the TPiS website that all that is needed is the miniram and the fuel rail kit to install a miniram on a stock TPI car. Is that true, or are there other things needed. I'm not much of a retrofit guy and have no means of fabricating anything. If I can simply buy a miniram and fuel kit and take a day to put it on then that is what I'm going to do. Mine is an '89. I realize someday I'll want to change the convertor and gears, but for the swap is it really that simple??

If you have the stock fuel injectors you might consider changing them out to a Bosch or Rochester design.

Yea it will bolt on BUT if you have stock heads and cam don't bother you won't see sht for an improvement. If you plan to do heads and cam then by all means do the intake change.

I've been told it will help hp alot even with the stock heads and cam. I have 1.6 RR's, hooker headers, full dual exhaust. Going with a zex 125 kit in the next few weeks, probably run the 100 jets. Am going to change converter and gears once I figure out exactly what I'm going to do with the intake. In a few years I'm sure I'll have a forged 383 with heads worked and different cam. Sounds like the miniram is the way to go for me. I'm hoping to get a nice gain even with the stock heads/cam. I'll need to change the governor so it shifts at around 6000 instead of 5000. Thanks guys, keep the input coming, this is really helpful!!!!

I am running a Miniram combo with my 89 Vette.

You will need the thermostat housing that works with the Miniram. I am not sure if it is included with the kit.

DO YOU HAVE STOCK HEADS AND CAM?
DO YOU THINK A STOCK HEAD/CAM CAR WOULD MAKE BETTER POWER (ie faster qtr mile speed) WITH A MINI THAN WHAT IT ALREADY HAS?

Dano - are you buying new or used? that is really the factor in what you'll need if the prev owner doesnt send everything.
FWIW - if you are seriously thinking about going 383 sooner than later, get the correct MR for the heads - 1204,1205,or 1206 - the 1204 don't seem to have much room for stretching them for a 1205 gasket and leave a good sealing surface for my taste.

The last time I checked, the thermostat housing came with the MiniRam. I used a standard thermostat, with the exception that it opens at 180 degrees.

I was told that by a mechanic I know that works on TPI stuff all the time. Not saying he is right, that is why I'm on here asking questions. He said with the 1.6 RR's and a good converter and 3.54 gear I would love the miniram, he said it is even way better than the stock TPI with the stock converter and gears. I eventually plan on going 383 bottom end, but keeping the stock aluminum heads (ported and totally reworked, bigger valves and all). Which miniram would I need for reworked 113 heads? Will it work with them stock, before I get the porting done? I don't plan to tear the heads off at this point.

Which mimiram and gasket would I want to work with the stock 113 heads, and will still work with the 113 heads after I have them reworked, ported, bigger valves, etc. Is it worth it for me to go with the miniram with stock cam and torque converter for now (I do have 1.6 RR's and LT headers), or would my 1/4 mile times be similar if I stay with the TPI till I can afford the 383, headwork, cam, converter, and 3.54's? The help from you guys is greatly appreciated!!
