My bose system died. I want to throw my ALPINE setup in there. How do I get to all the speakers without breaking anything? And how do I remove this head unit safely. I suppose I just could go tinker with it, but do not want to risk hurting my first vette. Any suggestions? Things I should look out for, or do in order? Any help is appreciated.
check the audio section... under forums ==> general corvette ==> Audio electronics.
There is a sticky, C4 Audio FAQ that will help you.
As for the speakers, to reach the fronts, requires removing the rocker panel covers. there are a series of screws on the outside, and a plastic panel at the back of the door jam. just feel around. It is easier if you remove the seats.
Also, RUN NEW WIRE. Don't mess with that old GM junk.
Agree with bogus to junk stock wiring, but use it to thread your new wiring. attach the new to the old then pull it through.
Wow, GREAT IDEA. I have done alot of that before, but for some reason that tactic slipped my mind on this one. Thanks so much, no telling how much time and grief you saved me with that! THANKS!
