Default throttle body question please

hello there fellas,
i have a 52 mm bbk throttle body.

any way i wanted to ask please at the bottom of the t/b under the accelertor linkage near where the t/b coolent out let is there is a small diameter pipe that sticks out facing down.

now when you look at the baclk of the t/b where it meets up to the plenum it has a small channel that goes around in a half circle from the bottom to the top.

when i installed my intake last time the car would only run /idle at really high revs around 3,000 rpm.

any way i realised that after i pulled the complete intake and t/b off after i deleted the e.g.r i didnt either connnect or plug up this t/b tube.

is this most likely why the car wouldnt run properly and idel really high?

where does this pipe fit and connect too any way?

thank you
regards
shae

If its the small tiny tube on the bottom, put a rubber vacuum block off cap on it..yes a vacuum leak there will make it idle very high!I believe that tube was for the EGR vacuum line, which you no longer need since you deleted it.Cap off all ports you will not use. Most stores sell rubber vacuum caps in different sizes in a kit so you can use them in different places.

so thats what it was, egr connection.
no wonder the dam thing idleed very high and sounding terrible and wouldnt run.
i thought it was a distributor timing set up or runner gasket leak?

You too Shae!

Btw,if you have a can of carb/efi or brake cleaner spray, you can find vacuum leaks this way. With the car running,if it is idling erratic, high or etc, spray certain areas, just a little spray at a time, anywhere you hear a whistle sound or suspect a vacuum leak.

If the carb or brake cleaner gets sucked in,it will drastically change the idle for a second or so,and stink up the exhaust fumes. You will hear, see the engine change speed fast.

Thats a easy way to find a vacuum leak where air outside the TB and MAF on some cars,is finding its way into the engine around the TPI either through a bad gasket seal or a unplugged vacuum port.

Just thought I would suggest that if you didnt know.It works on all cars.
