Not sure on the exact specs, but there IS a difference between the older SBC and newer SBC crank threads. Newer ones are metric, older ones are standard. I know because I tried using a older style bolt in my LT4 crank and it's a hair too small. I'm not sure when they changed from std to metric.

I used a threaded rod to go into the crankshaft and a collection of nuts and washers to push the balancer on the crankshaft. I thought the crankshaft bolt was still english. Take the harmonic balancer bolt to the hardware store and use some nuts to figure out the size of the threads.
