Not sure 100%, but on my 86 you had to disconnect the wire harness from everything then pull through the jam, (rubber boot will unscrew from jam) once all the wires are free just remove the hinge bolts. It would be wise to remove the fender/panel behing the front wheel as well.

Oh yeah you need to remove the panel and the liner to disconnect everything, be ready to get some scrapes and cuts. Label it and also take a picture how the wires are routed, it will help.
