Default code 43 diagnosis 1990 L98

I had my SES light come on. It had 2 codes. 1 being a TPS sensor. Replaced it and that code went away. The 43 code was on, and the car was pinging alot. Replaced the knock sensor. Pinging now gone.
Now I notice an annoying surging while driving. Poor throttle response.
SES light still on always and spitting out code 43. I do not want to mindlessly throw money at this. I read some threads that talk about the ESC module. Where is that located? Any help??

Thanks!

On my 1992, it's located on the blower motor housing on the passenger side of car.

I'll look. Not sure what it looks like. How do I diagnose this code 43?

Have you pulled the ECM fuse or disconnected the battery to clear the codes?

At this point it would be a good idea to buy the service manual.

There is no separate ESC module on your vette. It went away at the same time as the old style MAF went away.

Are you sure you hooked it back up after you installed a new one? Or if the connection is bad to the sensor, the ECM will read the wrong voltage from the sensor and trip the ESC code. It also checks to see if it is present, by adding some advance during acceleration to see if it knocks. If it doesn't knock, it also sets the error.

Isn't code 43 a knock sensor? FSM says check the wires. Mine was kocking and threw a 43 but it didn't last long so i think maybe it was a loose wire as I reset the CEL and it hasn't come back or knocked since.

I replaced the esc module. Runs a little better. light still on. still has a 200 rpm surge at or below 1500 rpm. I talked to another guy that said the pic up coil could throw a 43. What's a pick up coil? Same as a coil?
I saw on last reply that the computer was reset. How do I do that?
I have disconnected the battery. The code come right back. I had it disconnected about 5 minutes. Thanks for all the suggestions!! This is my first C-4.

If the code came back after disconnecting the battery it means you still have the problem. Try following the wires back from the knock sensor to the ECM as its most likely a short of some kind. Just an educated guess....

It is located just above the oil pan on the passenger side of the engine just in front of the starter, you can only get to it from underneath
