Rough Idle Problem,,,,,

Funny thing is, it doesnt do it all the time, and I cant MAKE it do it either. It just seems to happen randomly.
When I am driving it, it seems ok, it only happens when its idling.
Any ideas?
It could be so many things, dirty air or fuel filter, leaking EGR,PCV valve, fuel pressure, worn timing chain,...
Same thing happened to my '86 earlier this year. I contacted the forum, and one of the suggestions that I believe helped me the most was the suggestion to be sure to clean my throttle body. After removing the clamps, holding the Mass Air Flow Sensor...I was able to see how much 'carbon' had built up in the throttle body...potentially causing the rough idle I was experiencing. I used some 'STP carb cleaner', a tooth brush, and a clean rag...and went to work. Results: a much smoother idle. Took about 1-1/2 hours. Give it a look.
Good Luck!! John
