Default Outperform LT4 Heads

What's available that will outperform my stock LT4 heads. I know lingenfelter will CNC my castings. Does AFR offer an LT4 casting.

I plan to port match the intake and heads at a minimum.

Just wait for the new AFR Eliminator heads to come out for the LT4's and you'll have more than you'll probably ever need.

Any idea when this will happen?

Also, any feedback on the new Edelbrock Air Gap for the LT4? I couldn't find it on Edelbrock's web site.

Just found on AFR's web site a 195cc Eliminator Street head for the LT4. Anyone know what kind of gain these will give you?

As always, the gain depends on the supporting parts as well. Are you changing the cam? If so to what? I'd say that the 195cc LT4 Eliminator heads *could* give you as much as a 20HP gain on their own...if you add a cam and long tube headers to that as well then they will give quite a bit more on top of that.

A little off the topic, but pretty close....are the 195cc eliminator heads advertized for the LT4 only for the LT4? Or can they be fitted to the LT1?

Just a simple question, don't mean to hijack the thread.

I am installing a Hot Cam kit.

You can install LT4 heads on an LT1 but you must also install an LT4 intake. The LT4 intake ports are taller.

With the Eliminator heads and the HotCam you'll see a nice bump in power. Have you already bought the HotCam or would you be able to consider something else? I like the HotCam, but it's old-tech at this point for cams...don't get me wrong, it works, but there are a lot of newer options out there as well, just ask around here to see what people are using and how they are performing.

Also, are you getting, or do you already have headers?

I like your Avatar, I have a live 30mm practice round for the GAU-8 sitting next to my computer at home...that thing is a BEAST!

That'll save some money, but the AFR's will give better overall performance...this is coming from someone that spent over $3000 on just the machine work to my stock LT4 heads a few years ago. I know how far they can go, and how much $$$ it takes to get them there and the AFR's are just a better choice in the long run.

Now, people like Lloyd Elliot have been getting very nice gains as well lately, and if all you plan on doing is just a heads/cam package and never going any further you might want to look him up as it would save some $$$. But if you ever think you might want to get some more power out of it down the road the AFR's are a better option, both for performance and money.

If your going to run just the hot cam,you don't need the afr heads.
Just port the lt4's and you will be very happy.
The hot cam is a great street cam,a little lope and good mid and high range power, with no problems.

Stock LT1s ported are better than Stock LT4 heads. Almost everything out there is better. IMO spending money on quality porting the LT4 heads and adding bigger valves is much better than buying afr heads. There's numerous people on this board running around 450-500 rwhp with ported Lt4 castings.

When the eliminator LT4 head is ready I will be buying them for sure but only if they put out some serious flow #s

To ask the same question a little differently, what could I expect in terms of HP gain if I added the AFR 195 heads to an LT1 engine that already has a hotcam and LT headers? Based on quarter mile data, I estimate that I'm running about 400-410 HP at the crank, and I'd like to get from a 12.5 quarter into the low 12's.

Yes, the ported LT1 heads will flow better than stock LT4s, but then he would have to buy LT1 heads and have them ported. It would be cheaper to buy the AFRs or have the LT4s ported. Bear in mind that ZIX is a multi-millionare.
