Those who have removed AC.....
I'm interested in removing all AC, what methods has others used, AC delete bracket etc.or ?? please include part numbers and pics. if possible TIA, mick
hello mick,
i have done the a/c delete just recently.
i am running pollution pump delete pulley,3 piece underdrive pulley kit,cut down air con bracket completely and just the left the mounts/bracket to hold the idler pulley in place.
then i reversed the serpentine belt thru the idler puller and replaced as others kindly mentioned here with a 1988 gm Berreta 6 rib pulley,# gm 10044867.
i the measured up the length serp belt i need which is 66 " long and brought a good year gator back multi rib belt, # gtr-4060660 from summit racing.
and thats pretty well it mate.
regards
shae
I did an AC delete on my previous C4(87) with a nice light pulley off eBay, cleaned up the engine bay amazingly. Will probably do the 88 eventually, but I just found the right belt for my current underdrive setup and won't be messing around with that stuff until winter.
Here it is using the "1LE" delete bracket. I cannot find a part number but it is available via auction with a search for "1LE Delete". It is actually a camaro firebird option from 88-92. I have not seen it listed for Corvettes specifically.
I use a stock length belt and have AIR delete as well.
Thanks to al who have responded it is appreciatted
I like using the bracket idea for doing this. It would be nice keeping the belt size that I currently have, seeing as I already have a few of them, but I am willling to look at all options (never know).
Slalom4me I have sent frmrfast a pm hopefully he still has, or offers this bracket. That looks like a nice peice.
Raindelay's is also on the right track of what I would like, but I didn't know there were some changes from the earlier years. I also remember (GM ?) one for the LT stuff but wasn't sure if I could get it to work on the 90.
Sorry guys for not mentioning the year being a 90.....flame suit is on
