Default Datamaster Question

When using Datamaster, (1992 LT1), will the Spark Advance field change on the screen live if you manually retard the timing? I guess what I am asking is...when I use the direct port kit on my car, I manually retard the timing from inside the car with an adjustable MSD timing switch, but it does not seem to be reflected from what the screen on a given recorded pass shows. I know the timing is being pulled by the way the car acts and instantly loses idle. I just wasnt sure if I retard 10 degrees, if that would be reflected in what the screen shows or if the screen would not show it. Remember, this is a 1992, with a burned chip. Any thoughts???

I think the ECM has no way to measure the manual change you are making.

I'm not familiar with the switch - how does it work?

Basically an MSD **** that most cars could use to either advance or retard, but on an LT1 you can only use the **** to retard. Can retard the timing up to 15 degrees.

I have no idea for sure but it sure sounds to me like you are fooling the computer when you manually override it. My WAG is that it would change but you would not see it on Datamaster cause the computer still thinks its controlling things.
