Hey guys, just as an FYI, I just got off of the phone with Brett at Aeromotive. We stepped through my entire fuel system and perhaps found my problem. Just so you know, whenever you run a fuel filter on the suction side of the pump, you MUST use a metal screen element instead of a paper element like I did. The paper elements are for the pressure side of the pump. I'm going to run some tests tonight to make sure that my voltages to each pump are ok, and even perform a volume test at my max operating pressure (about 60psi) to see how much fuel is available at pressure (there is a gallon per minute test given a certain PSI at a given voltage). He also told be that the newer A1000 pumps have been upgraded to the perform as well as the old Eliminator pumps. So, he told me to check mine to see when they were manufactured (there are very small numbers on the bottom) and they will upgrade them if necessary to the new and improved A1000 specs. He said it would cost me less to upgrade both pumps than to purchase one new Eliminator. He also did not seem that bothered by my #6 lines going to my fuel rails.

Tony, is this a situation where you were running the 10 micron filter before the pump instead of after?

Don't they say 40 micron before the filter and 10 after? That's awesome news about the a1000's getting upgraded.

You know I didn't get to that level of detail with Brett, but it makes sense that the filter being sucked is not as "fine" as the one being pushed under pressure. I may send my A1000s in for upgrading anyway just to have that extra level of comfort. I'll probably also increase the size of my fuel lines going to my fuel rails just in case. It's a long (and now expensive) drive to Chicago to have to turn around and come back home simply because my fuel lines are too small...

As detailed in my fuel system, single -12AN 20um filter in front of pump, with one -10AN 5um filter prior to split at fuel rails.

I think you may have located at least part of your problem.

Both pumps are getting the full 13 volts, but the pump that runs all of the time had a filter that was so clogged with stuff it's a wonder the car ran at all. I cleaned the tank as best as I could while still being in the car, and obviously still didn't get everything. I will change these filters out to screen elements. I also checked my fuel rails and they are made to accept a #8 inlet, so I will go ahead and change those as well to #8s. I'm also going to pull the pumps and perhaps send them back to Aeromotive to be upgraded if in fact they have the old technology. I need all of the help I can get! Thanks guys!!

I can say personally that it's the last time I built a huge HP car and use an electric pump. Next time it will be a walbro in the maintank feeding a 1 gallon surge tank up front and an aeromotive/kinsler belt drive pump. No more screwin around....
