When accelerating from a stop my throttle response seems to be very sensitive to the point where the car lunges with little effort on the pedal. I find myself flexing my foot to apply minimal force to the pedal. I believe
the TPS is original and the scanner indicates normal voltage throughout the travel of the pedal? Can anyone relate? Or any suggestions? I noticed the TPS seems to be adjustable but I dont want to start messing with it
and throwing off the computor. It has been like this since I bought it a couple years ago.
Mine was like that when i got it.it turned out to be the springs on the TB.Someone had messed with them and not put enough tension on them when rebuilding it.

My '86 has the exact same problem. Lubricating the throttle body and cable didn't help. I'll have to check the spring tension.
Mines a 383 lingenfelter and someone had been playing with it.When I got it you had to push the throttle so hard your leg ached. There was this big coil spring attached to the throttle to pull it closed.Well after I took it off and used the car boy oh boy.Hit the throttle ,butterflies flopped virtually full open, smoke pouring off the tyres and i needed to change my shorts. When your not expecting it it comes as a shock.Anyway you will see there are two springs on the operating arm.You can assemble it without winding some tension onto them which is what some idiot did with mine. Can't remember but I think it was two turns.Perhaps someone else knows.
Im thinking spring tension too, The pedal is fairly hard to push compared to most. I'll check into spring tension? Bought car from original owner no mods that I know of other than a few I did .
Is it a stock or enlarged throttle body? The bigger ones make the car FEEL like it's faster because you're letting in a lot more air at throttle tip-in.
Had same problem with my 90. I thought it was just the way the throttle was. Stayed this way for 6 monthes as I don't drive it much. A couple of weeks ago while driving to show the car started surging at highway speed and service engine light came on. Throttle problem got worse as well. I finally pulled codes and found it was oxygen sensor bad. Replaced test drove and found light gone, surging gone, and original throttle response problem gone. Car will now accelarate smoothly from stop.
I'd be disapointed if my throttle response wasn't sensitve. You're not driving a Yugo! When I touch the pedal, I expect it to moooooove!
That's true, of course. But the throttle should not be 100% open when the pedal has only traveled 50% of its travel. The throttle should move from almost closed at idle to wide open as the pedal moves from top to bottom. And this goes for the Yugo Koral as well as the Mclaren F1.
Well then, may I suggest that he find another C4 owner and have him drive it and see if it feels normal or crazy. The couple of times that I've had the throttle feel funky, I discovered that the cable had fallen out of that U-shaped cable holder gizmo that's attached to the tb.
