i am putting my list together for my Engine build (thx vader)
i am curious if a reliable L98 that runs in the low-mid 10's is realistic or not
Ran my car for nearly 4 year with the only things majorly changed from stock being the engine (434) and transmission. Ran it one year with a 700r4 - then went to a T350.
It can be done, but its all in the motor and attention to detail. I run my car on the street all the time and with zero issues. Stock radiator is still in it and it never gets over 190* while cruising on the street.
its not that hard, you just have to have the ambition and again attention to detail to get everything RIGHT.
The weak point of the entire setup will be the rear D44 - but for as many runs as I put on my car (in the 100s) - I really only ever broke about 4 times. So that is not all that bad. Again it was making sure that everything was right and doing my homework making sure the suspension was setup properly.
Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it - again there are several fine examples of 10sec l98s. Check out my website: www.azzatochips.com for most of these cars.
What makes a L98 a L98? The tpi right? and alum heads, but mainly the intake. Once you go stroker, mini ram, SR whatever, its not really a L98 anymore.
Doing it with the tpi would be hard. VERY hard. Low 10s damn near IMpossible.
Everything would have to be right. The suspension, gearing, converter, etc.
4+3, I would think out of the question.
