Hot intake plenum and valve covers. why?
After a sprinted run I can't put my hands on the plenum ..too hot.
After 1/2 hours the plenum and the valve covers are still hot but i can put briefly my hands on it.
I always tought that this is normal.
Some days ago I needed to perform a check on the spark plugs.
The car was stopped 1 hours before.
Well, the exhaust (even the part closer to the heads) where not cool, but only warm (I can maintain the hands on it without be burned at all )
if i put my hand on the plenum I have to remove them after some seconds...

Is it normal?
If I let it overnight (say I stopped the engine at night at 1:00 AM ) and I check the temp the morning at 7:00 AM the plenum is almost cool but I can feel it is not completely cooled as others engine parts are .
open or closed the LAST thing that cool down is the intake plenum.

I monitored the IAT temps with various scans and it is only some degrees over the ambient temp, but the surface of the plenum is HOT really Hot!

Are upper end oil flow restrictors being used in the oil galleys? What
about the push rods, do they limit oil flow? Is there anything about
the valve spring rates or configuration that might cause them to run
hot? Rocker arms?
While I agree with the earlier statements, I know that your engine is
modified.

Oil sometimes in the 230-235 range. Normally in 210-220
I never performed prolonged WOT (i have only 550 miles on my new 396)
Oil restrictors? I dont know... I have to ask to Pete K (he made my engine).
Springs are 135 lb open and 365 closed @ 2.030 installed height.
Rockers are the promagnum Comp cams 1.6..
