Default Tips for programming a rich idle

Im been messing around with datamaster and tunerpro for a few weeks now. I'm slowly gettin the hang of it but still have problems with a rich idle. My upper RPM's are alot better but it seems that no matter what I do, my low RPM's are still very rich. Once it enters closed loop my BLM's go to 108 at idle. Does anyone have any tips?

You may be having the common problem where the stock program forces "fuel cell 4" during certain conditions of the CCP (charcol canister purge). There is a lot of info on this subject at thirdgen.org. Search on "CCP".

This makes fuel adjustment at idle confusing. Disable this in the constants section:

set the "Forced BLM Idle Cell CCP %D.C. Threshold" to 0

If I remember correctly, my car idles in fuel cell 8 with the cam I have.

Thanks I'll give that a try right now!

I'm using Tunerpro RT and don't see the "Forced BLM Idle Cell CCP %D.C. Threshold" under constants. There is a "Canister Purge Force BLM Idle Cell Duty Cycle though" There is a min. and max. one. My max is set to 0.00 and the minimum is set to 19.92. Do I change the minimum to 0.00 aswell?

Do I disable it and leave it? Or do I disable it, tune then re-enable it?

That must be it. I use TunerCat. Set the min. to zero also. The stock motor idles normally in cell 4. With your new cam you'll be at a lower vacuum (higher MAP) probably around 60 kPa which is in cell 8. I recommend making it a permanent change.

You can also add closed TPS timing to clean up the combustion a bit.

I scaned my car again tonight with the changes and it doesnt seem like anything really changed. The car idles in cell 5 which is still very rich. Any ideas? I also have code 33 now which is MAP Voltage High - Low vacuum.
