You'll need the car tuned for open headers. I would just stick to the x-pipe and cat back.

People do it with exhaust cutouts so I don't see why not. Do you mean ending the exhaust at the back of the headers? Messing with O2's you would need a tune. If any air comes in from the back it could cause it to run rich. Exhaust heat may be an issue also.

I'm not sure how it would affect the O2 sensor/s. I would at least have some turn-downs put on it to direct the heat towards the ground.

You can but I'm not sure you will want to drive around like that. I had to drive mine to the exhaust shop that way and it was LOUD. Now I like loud exhausts but there is now way you could function on the street everyday like this. Race track is a different story

Like the others have said it is like running the cut outs

Oh, I did I mention the smell? Running a full exhaust sans the cats will give you some strong odor. If you run open headers the inside of the car is going to smell like a gas can!!

I'm in a similar situation
For my drag only car was going to remake the LT's where they neck down to 2.5" and build a true 3" collector 12 -14" long.
Is that going to be long enough to prevent O2 errors from dilution at idle?
Alternative is to extend 3" pipe all the way to turn down at rear of trans.
