Default Please Help Decode this Keyless Entry Diagram

I posted earlier this week about a Viper VKE1000 Keyless entry system that I wanted to install into my 89 Corvette. Well I've gotten into that part of the project where the easy wires are done and the confusion begins. If any of you know where to connect these wires to, let me know??? I am confused about the setup, don't have the proper wiring diagrams I need, and I have to get the car back on the road in a timely manor. I did it again, backed myself into a corner. Take a look....

Above with red X's are the steps I already taken.

Problems I had because of lack of diagram....

1. I connected the the trunk output wire "Red/White Channel 2, 200Ma (-) output" directly to the black wire coming out of my drivers door harness. This would be the same wire the switch grounds to open the trunk. Do I need a relay for this function or is there already a factory relay (is the switch relayed). I don't want to burn up the unit.

2. Same problem with the parking lights. According to the diagram H1/10 White is a + or - Depending. "This wire provides a high current output to flash the parking lights." Then, in later pages it says i "may" need a relay. Well why would I if this is a "high current output." Shouldn't it be able to handle the parking lights. This wire was also pulled directly from the switch which I would assume would already be relayed, but then again I don't have a diagram of that either.

3. I found the door Lock and Unlock wire on the drivers side harness. First off, is an 89 vette capable of "Progressive Unlock?" Meaning, on the first click only the drivers door unlocks and then clicking the button again unlocks the passenger door. Seems to me this is not a possible function. When I hit the switch inside the car, it locks and unlock both doors.

Which wires in this diagram would you send to the two wires that control the lock and unlock function.

4. What the heck are Dome light supervision outputs and how do I wire those up?

I need to get myself out of this mess, any help is appreciated.

Dan,
There are instructions on this web link. I have used these to install a VKE1000 on my car. It was a couple of years ago so this is much better than my memory.

I got those instructions yet, they don't seem to line up with my 89. I can't figure out why. First off, theres "Unlock normally closed, Unlock Normally Open, then you have Unlock Common Output, Lock Normally Open, Lock Normally Closed, and Lock Common output" Do all these wires even get used?

I also can't understand the need for a relay for the lights where the directions specify that that is a high voltage output circuit.

I've actually been in the garage with my laptop since about 11am. Found the Black and Blue wires they specify coming out of the kick panel, yet no matter what configuration I hook these wires up, I can't get a thing to happen with the doors????

First make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable while you do your wiring.

This is the Door Lock Schematic for a 89.
It appears to be the same as the schematic on the Batee site.

At the driverside kick panel you want to locate the Lt Blue wire and the Black wire coming from the driverside door lock switch.

The Light Blue wire is for Unlock.
The Black wire is for Lock.

Cut the Light Blue wire.

Connect wire H2 F Brown/Black from the VK1000 to the Light Blue wire end going to the Passenger side door lock switch.
Connect wire H2 G Blue/Black from the VK1000 to the Light Blue wire end going back to the kick panel.

Cut the Black wire.

Connect wire H2 C White /Black wire from the VK1000 to the end of the Black wire going to the passenger side door lock switch.
Connect wire H2 D Green/Black wire from the VK1000 to the end of the Black wire going to kick panel.

Connect wire H2 E Violet/Black wire from the VK1000 to a constant 12 volt source.

As you can see on the schematic there is an Orange/Black wire which comes fromt Power ACCY 30 amp breaker and goes to the driver side door lock switch. You can splice into that wire for 12 volts.

Also verify H2 H has 12 volts on it at all times. If not, you need to splce that wire into the Orange/Black wire.

Hooked,

Thanks for the help, I finally figured it out at 3am. The blue and black wires were reversed for some reason (someone hacked my harness) and when I played around with the wires a bit I got it to work. I also pulled the wires from the passenger side rather than the drivers. Now all I have to do today is get the Vehicle Anti-Theft System worked out.

Thanks again,

Dan
