Sam, I am going to get a couple pics for you of the flowmasters, they are a 3in. center inlet with dual 2.5 outlets. Due to fitment I had to shorten the length of the inlet. Today while removing them I was using one of the tailpipe cutters that is pliers with a chain and roller cutters in each link. I cut them nice and square but had to use my air hacksaw for the final cut and the darn thing went off to one side on the top where I couldn't see it. They are easily usable yet but you decide from the pics. Since I had to do this they will be cheap.

Shimy86 and others interested, here are the Magnaflows I am using, I've got one on and will do the other today. I'll let you know my opinion of them later today.

Now here's a shot of the inside and it has me a bit worried as to sound.

If it does Magnaflow will be hearing from me, this is the muffler they suggested to kill the resonance problem I had with the Flows.

Midnight85,
How much were the Magnaflows, if you don't mind me asking? And also how much were the Flowmasters? Are they the same size? Thanks.

Best place to hang them is out in the garage and leave them there as they are probably the worst mufflers for drone that I have ever had. I wasted about $300 on installing a pair and then having to put the stock mufflers back on after having made the mistake of putting them on in the first place.

I agree with midnite on this. When I took a look at the magnaflows, I didn't see how a straight thru could be any quieter than a baffled. Most magnaflow's sound pretty loud to me.

On my 85" I have SW LT headers,3" Y pipe into a 3" straight pipe where the cat was and a 2 1/2" rear Y into Flowmaster "Super 40's" in the stock location with LT4 tips that I cut off of my elim's and reused.
The resonance is not that bad, not as bad as with just the elim's on it. Might be because my car has 2 layers of carpet in the rear. And the sound is awesome

I got the Flowmasters off the internet for around $65.00 each

The Magnaflows were $70 each but had free shipping, (ebay) The Flowmasters were something like $40 each plus shipping. I had just over $100. in the Flowmasters and I used them well under 500 miles.
They weren't the exact same dimensions except the inlet/outlet size.

I'm not too worried about what they sound like outside the car, all I want to do is eliminate as much resonance as I can. The Magnaflow muffler has packing in it and sounds solid if you hit it with your hand, the Flows are completely empty except for baffles and ring like a bell when you hit them. The old glasspacks we used to run years ago were straight through too but you couldn't hear them in the car that much. I will post tomorrow what my opinion of the Magnaflows is, I was supposed to today but didn't get them finished.

I was wondering how you can tell which flowmaster muffler you have? I currently have 2 on my car but I wanted to know what series they are.
Just got an slp 3" catback, cant wait to put it on, but the flowmasters do sound really nice

The Magnaflows are on guys! As far as noise outside the car, it is ALMOST as loud as the Flowmasters but it's a deeper tone. Inside the car is where the Magnaflows shine. I have probably 1/10 the resonance I had with Flowmasters. You do get some resonance but talking and listening to the radio is no problem whatsoever.
Just for FYI, you may get different results with different setups. I have long tubes which go into Magnaflow high flow cats, an x-pipe then separate tailpipes to the mufflers for a true dual system.

THere should be a PN/Model# stamped on the case somewhere. The ones specifically made for Vettes will have a little tab welded on the end for your mount...and a higher price tag.

Me too. Costly mistake. I put the original mufflers put back on.
