Anyone put a shortie racing muffler or a Flowmaster 40 in their car? Any suggestions on where to hang them?

Flowmasters resonate pretty bad, I suggest listening to, and if possible riding in a C4 with them installed. I've got em' and wish I would have done my homework

I have flowmaster 40s on mine. They are installed at the same location as the stock mufflers were. As Shimy86 said, they resonate badly.

The Flowmaster sound is powerful and very cool. If your wife is not into a loud car that resonates stay away. I have an S-10 with the top 10 shootout mufflers and even in a truck they are very loud. However, I love the sound and the performance so they aren't going anywhere.

I've already bought a pair of stainless Magnaflows, my like new Flowmaster 40s are coming off this winter, resonance almost eliminates talking in the car. The plus, they sound soooo good behind the car.

If the price is low enough I might buy your old Flowmasters. I don't need them but I could care less about the resonance. I pulled all the carpeting, insulation, all the foam out of the car so it would sound like open headers inside the car...and that is fine with me. Now my wife might be doing this

I had them and hated them after the first week, more noise inside the car than out.

I liked the way they sounded outside the car, especially at WOT but inside....already have tinnitus bad, dont need any more help with my ears ringing.
Gets old after having so many cars with Flos on it, time for something different.

Keep us (me) posted on how the Magnaflows sound. I agree that the Flowmasters sound great BEHIND the car but inside you cant have a conversation and listen to the radio at the same time

I had a muffler shop install Flowmaster "Delta Flow" 40's because the guy said they were quieter than the regular 40's.

A few days later I ordered the L98 Corsa catback and the Flowmaster exhaust is now hanging in my garage. The resonance was unbearable. I installed Flowmasters on my 91 Camaro and they sounded Awesome but, in the Vette it just sounds like a loud annoying hum.

I think part of the problem is the exhaust system in itself isnt real long, with mufflers at the very end rather than more pipe.
Remember the 70s when guys would hack the exhaust off with turbos and turndowns? Same effect.

I've decided I can't wait until winter to quiet the car down inside. I'm going to start the install on the Magnaflows today, I'll keep you posted and let you know about the end result.

They're not the polished stainless, they're the brushed stainless but they will still look good. I got them off ebay on a best offer auction for $70. each and free shipping. The seller's name was atomic city something. I'll get some pics of them tomorrow.
