700r4 manual valvebody

I have one ,you can get it at raptor trans in LA.
If you want to get ripped you can get one from Monster trans in
Florida.
I think they rip you for around 375.00.
I hope you use the z-pack with that or you will be walking in about 5 runs.If you plan on racing the car you will need 2 trans coolers. I also use a 9" converter for my 700r4.
It has lasted 7 mths now running from high 10's to 9.90's,up to 142 mph.It can be done but you get uneasy every run down the track. If the motor blows you can't put it in nuteral You will also have to drill your stock shifter to lock out 4th gear at times you will get in a hurry and miss a gear.

Manual valve body will allow the trans to be in the gear that the shifter indicates that it is in. The car will NOT shift on its own. You have to manualy shift to the desired gear. So you HAVE to start in manual low and shift to second, etc etc and downshift also when needed.

i had a hard time shifting from low to 2nd without chirping the tires,so if the cops are close take off in second.

Just look it as a 4 speed without the clutch
Does it churp the tires of course ,just get your foot of the gas and shift.
I would say it is a race only type of trans
I have driven mine on the street a few times and only got an exabition of speed ticket 2 times in the same 500 feet.

I guess it changes quicker than manual shifting the auto valve body??
Any videos??
I love the idea of being able to let the engine rev out from a low RPM all the way through. I often feel like the auto makes the engine rev a lot higher than it needs too.

The manual valve body is pretty good especially if you like a clutchless racing style transmission, but since the line pressure is set always high, you are always gonna have extremely firm shifts no matter what. Best thing about it is your TV cable is eliminated and the fact that you can shift at any rpm at anytime. I've been using a manual valve body for awhile, but sometimes the shifts are sometimes uncomfortably hard for everyday use, e.g when you've got your girlfriend or mother in the car.

The better shift kits allow you to have full manual control and engine braking on downshift while still retaining auto function in drive.
Wanna go racing ,shift yourself; feeling lazy put in auto.
I pulled my 4+3 for consistancy at the strip but still like to shift the auto like a stick on the street.
In D mine shifts nice and firm (not hard) but when manually shifting under power will chirp the tires.

I doubt it, you still have to move the leverin both situations.
Type of shifter becomes a factor as to ease of moving to next position.
With a manual valve body, say 1-2 shift; if you overshoot you go straight to 3rd whereas my setup will pull 2nd gear first before shifting to 3rd.
Under power my shifts are instant.
Best of both worlds , better drivibility and cheaper.Highly recommended.

Read here for explanation of shift kit benefits.
www.txchange.com/transgo.htm
The settings in the stock trans prevent downshifting above a set speed/rpm and will shift to a higher gear even if the shifter is held in a lower position.
From Trango site;
"Most kits offer Shift Command, a special feature of our re-programming that allows you to shift back to low at any speed.Holds 1st-2nd-3rd at any RPM. Trans-Go kits also retain fully automatic shifting in the "D" position."

This is a very interesting thread. I have been trying to get some real answers as to how to get the precision from my auto for road course and track use.
Are these difficult to install? Also what shifters are you using in conjuction with the manual valve body?
