Serpentine belt question
Went to my first show in a while this past weekend and noticed that some LT1 cars, particularly a '92, had the serpentine belt ribs facing up when it went around the alternator. Is that correct? I thought the ribs were supposed to be down and against the pulley.
Just curious...

The 92 and early 93 Lt1's have a double sided belt. You are correct, that the ribs should face down on a single sided belt.

The 92 and 93E belts run about $60 at a Chevy dealer. About twice what a belt for my 95 and 86E cost.

Thanks for all the replies. I've never noticed this before...

Hi Ray! Nice to hear from you. We haven't been to CI in a few years. I guess we're due for one of the next ones... We always enjoy that trip.
Did I tell you that one thing led to another and I now have my original '95 car back?
I thought you'd be back in the states by now but I see you're not. You must like it over there!

Yea I do, but I think her days are numbered. She has 320K miles on the clock now and I haven't really driven her in over a year, although she did pass the PA state inspection a month or so ago. Now that I have the '95, there is no room inside for the '85 and she sits under a tree in the driveway. So, we'll either try to sell her or let my daughter use her for a trade-in or what ever.
