Default Ground Questions

In my '91 FSM page 8A-203-0 they are showing 2 grounds at the rear left area of the engine near the firewall. One is the cluster of grounds that mounts to the rear of the left cylinder head (I imagine this is G101, G104, G105 and G106).

Then in the same area closer to the firewall they show a G107. It appears it's right near the wiper motor. I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone tell me where in the harness this ground is supposed to come out, or where on the car this ground is supposed to mount?

Also, do C4s run a ground strap from the engine to the frame? I've never seen one but that doesn't mean there isn't supposed to be one.

there should be a braided ground from under the battery tray to the cluster of grounds above the oil filter on the block and also the negatie battery cable begins at that point

Check the bellhousing bolts, the 2nd one clockwise from the left was used as a ground point in some years.

Thanks guys. I've searched the FSM and found the following info:

From the negative post of the battery:

On L98 engines G106 is the ground point on the engine block from the negative post of the battery. This is a large 2 gauge black wire. This is also where G104 and G105 meet at the back of the left hand cylinder head.

A second 12 gauge black ground wire goes from the negative battery cable to the chassis (under the battery). This is G101.

From G101 at the chassis under the battery is a braided ground strap which goes to ground G107 at the bell housing of the transmission.

All information above is for a 1991 L98 Vette. Other years should be simmilar. These are the major ground points from the battery to the engine and the chassis. There are other grounds throughout the car that attach to the chassis at various points.

Maybe this will help someone searching in the future.

The G106 ground is just above the oil filter, and close to where the oil temp sensor screws in (also just above the oil filter). I believe it's actually the threaded hole that gets used for the clutch cross shaft ball on old mechanical throwout arm setups... It's actually not as hard to reach (from underneath) as the ground bolt in the back of the head.
