Default 275s vs 315s

pretty well finished off another set of drs last night
at the track, I have been running 275-40-17s, really
like the look of y'alls cars with 315-35-17s  ,
wondering other than looks is it worth buying wider
wheels? anybody seen much 60ft improvment?
thanks guys,
Wayne

Drags would be better than size for a 60ft. Course they make the 315 in a drag as well. The 315 is a handling monster. Great for turns and as you said, looks

Is your car spinning the 275 DRs right now? If not I wouldn't bother.

Do not forget that you are adding a LOT more unsprung weight to the car, without any upgrades in power. Don't be surprised if you actually lose some time.

So if you're not spinning a 275 DR, I don't think a 315 would be worth it.

hey scorp,
yeh spinning enough I'am beating up the 275s pretty bad, I can get 1.78s-1.82s most any time, but spinning enough I THINK could do a little better
Wayne

p.s. I know you have posted the offset thing a million + 1 times but I can't remember,
old age , any way my cars an 87 but has been conv. to 44 rear, that make any diff. about the offset?

since I'm playing 21 questions anyway, what do you know about
going to 15s ?, I'm scared of corners anyway!

I went to 15" all around.. in front I have 3.5x15 with 165 skinny tires, in the rear pro Star 15x10" with 325/50/15 tires...

You will need spacers both front & rear, & have to grind the rear break calipers if is a newer car..

I love the way I launch..& hook up... however on the street you gotta take it easy in the corners.
Like they say you cant have it ALL if you want to fast in the 1/4 your gonna have to give up some cornering ability, if you are looking for the 1g in cornering with BIG tires all around etc.. you can expect slower 1/4 times.

Or the 3rd choice is to compromise, and NOT be GREAT in either, but "fair" in both...

As for me.. I like going from point "a" to "b" as fast as possible, so its big Drag radials, & slow in the corners..

my sway bar in in the garage.. :)

ditto on the swaybar and the only corner I like is onto the return road, but not sure if I want to go 3.5s on the front, I have run 6in with something like a 205/60, on other cars, kinda skinny but very driveable, any chance that would work-look right?
