Yup, one thing at a time. I was gonna look at it today, but it is sitting at the dealer because of an oil drain plug leak. They weren't able to seal in another plug, so it looks like they'll have to put in a new oil pan. So, it will probably be sitting there over the weekend. I've got to go to work soon, so I guess I'll just take my 89 Firebird since the dude hasn't called back yet. I don't think I want to waste more oil, as I just had the oil changed, and they just drained all that to try to put this plug in it.

If you elect to check the programmer, it would not be a bad idea to remove it, and check inside the unit. Located on the electrical board in one corner is a pair of resistors. They will have several stripes on them and you will most likely see the board around the resistors discolored, due to heat from the resistors. Typically, the resistors emit aloth of heat causing the soldier to crack and make a bad connection. this causes the programmer to work intermittantly. Simply resoldier the joints. 90% of the time it is the fix to the problem.

Also when the unit is out check the nibs to the vacuum lines. They should be round and hard. Reinstall the vacuum harness and make a good connection to the electrical connector and you should be all set.

Not yet. I plan on getting one as soon as I get all of my fluids flushed. I think those books are $100.

Mode 1 is Program number
Mode 2 is in vehicle thermistor
Mode 3 Ambient correction
Mode 4 Blower number
Mode 5 Outside thermistor
Mode 6 Feed back pot position
Mode 7 Calculated door position
Mode 8 System faults
Mode 9 Ratiometric feedback position
Mode 10 Full hot position
Mode 11 Full code position
Mode 12 Software version

To change Mode # press the Warm button.
To see the value in that Mode # press the Cool button.

A system fault is indicated by a flashing indicator. If there is a problem with the ambient sensor, in
vehicle sensor, or the feedback potentiometer, the Ext. Temp. indicator will flash for about 60 seconds,
upon ignition ON. The flashing indicator will reoccur upon ignition ON until the system problem has been corrected.

If you disconnect the battery and reconnect it, the system will recalibrate and move the door from one extreme to the other and then position the door and stop. The blower motor also comes on and you can manually turn it off. Takes about 30 seconds.
Hey all,

I'm having a/c and heat issues as well. A/C works fine, but only get heat. I Ended up closing the temp. door manually and I get A/C and that is it (no heat) however, when I change temps the airflow moves from upper vents to lower vents so I assume vacuum assembly is ok. Temp. door is currently manually closed giving me A/C...no heat when I did the below diagnostics and this is what I got:

Mode 1 is Program number = 35
Mode 2 is in vehicle thermistor = 122
Mode 3 Ambient correction = 73
Mode 4 Blower number = 00
Mode 5 Outside thermistor = 77
Mode 6 Feed back pot position = 13 ignition off, 16 ignition on.
Mode 7 Calculated door position = 55
Mode 8 System faults = 00
Mode 9 Ratiometric feedback position = 52
Mode 10 Full hot position = 01
Mode 11 Full code position = 16
Mode 12 Software version = 86

Also, my Ext. Temp. indcator is not flash upon ignition on.
Does this all look ok?

Thanks~!
Bill
