i just got my aldl cable last night, and bought the tunercat software the other day, so last night i was getting everything set up, and to make sure i had everything working correctly i scanned my ecm..this morning i drove the car and it is running funny. I didnt change anything...but i scanned it with the ee and not the ee$ does it matter and if so what should i do?
I'm no computer genius so laymens terms would be great!
I also am no computer genius, but I have scanned afew ecm's and burned some chips with tunercat. As far as I know tunercat is editing software, not for scanning. So what did you use to scan or record data from the ecm? Tunerpro?
What year is the ecm you are working on? Unfamiliar with terms 'ee' & 'ees', Do you mean 6e? As in mask on chip for MAF system.
I guess he means that he read the pcm data to a .bin file.
@finally_got_it
While reading the data it does not matter which definition file you have because these are only for interpreting tha data in the .bin file in the correct way when you edit them. The content of the .bin file is only a 1:1 copy of what is stored in your PCM.
@rebuildman
$ee and $eeb are different versions of the definition file for 94-95 LT1 PCMs

Reading your PCM has no effect on how the car operates.
If you actually uploaded a bin, then if you didn't change any settings, it still shouldn't have any effect on how the car operates, regardless of which definition you used.
If you changed any settings while using $EEb, since your 95 is $EE, that would screw things up, although even then, not all such screw ups would result in "running funny."
