negative battery terminal wires
i have an 86, i pulled the battery connections today to clean them, when i pulled the negative battery connection it had two wires the main (bigger one) and another one (smaller one) the smaller one pulled all the way out to reveal that it led to nothing except about 1 inch of wire outa the insulation..... just wondering where its supposed to go is it a ground or what?
also been having trouble with my alternator sometimes it charges great 13.7-14.2 othe times it wont go over 11.8 i wonder if this wires been flopping around grounding out my battery

Chassis
Just looked at mine. It bolts to the top of the chassis just towards the right side of the car below the battery tray. There is also a ground wire from the harness on the same bolt. Hope this helps.
