I knew when I purchased the car that it had this problem. Whenever I start the car up and start to drive in open loop, it will jump back and forth until I reach about 2K RPM and it smooths out. It does it in every gear until the engine temp gets about 160* or so (closed loop verified). Sometimes it gets real bad and I have stab the pedal to make it stop. It's like when a manual tranny is in first gear and rolling with your foot off the clutch and your not giving it throttle. It also has a wondering idle until closed loop and I have checked for vac leaks. Doesn't matter if the A/C is on or not.
Once in closed loop the car runs great and idles perfect. Just wondering if it is something mechanical or in the tune. Just trying to workout some of the bugs.

It sounds normal to me. With the cam you have the car will do that. I have a fairly large cam in my 96 and it does the same thing. Most of the guys here will tell you that some of it ( Cam Surge ) can be tuned out. I am getting used to it, and have just relearned how to drive the car.

This is what I figured. If I let the car warm up before I drive it, theres no problem with cam surge.
