Default muffler eliminators

I have been wondering what kind of benefits were gained by going to muffler eliminators. How loud and HP.

If you like LOUD do it, can't really say about it improving HP as I never dynoed the car after doing it. Def. will turn heads.

No horse power increase, just a nice sound and it is a little lighter. I kept the resonator intact and I run Hooker Shortie Headers with OEM cats. I also put an "H" pipe near the end before the pipes turn out towards the mufflers. On long trips, you'll want a nice set of ear plugs. [IMG][/IMG]

How loud will depend on the rest of your exhaust.

My eliminators sound incredibly quiet with stock exhaust, but loud with long tubes and single high flow cat.

ive been running around without them for a while, they are LOUD but sound awesome.
stock manifolds--> front Y with hollowed out cats --> hollow main cat --> rear Y --> just tips on the end.

sounds great! With the central pipe (the hollowed cat) still in place, it acts as an X pipe and keeps my backpressure up enough to give me the torque I want and its frigging awesomely loud LOL.

I recently went to a true dual setup that had flowmasters prewelded on. I am not too happy with the sound at all. I may go back to my original setup soon.

Default Muffler Eliminators - Nice

I put the chambered exhaust system from Corvette Central on my 94 coupe a few months ago, and I am very happy with them. They have a nice rumble at idle, sound good up thru the gears, a nice little burble when backing off,...and they are hardly noticeable at cruise. The have a sound similar to my old Stingrays with side pipes. I replace the Flowmasters I had on there, that came with the car. I was never happy with them...the resonance was the biggest complaint. It was worse at 70-75 MPH in 6th gear

Good looking catback. Now if it just had chrome or polished stainless tips.

wow... I will never understand why the folks want all this loud... between the noise, the cabin resonance gives me a head ache, and why attract all the unwanted attention?

Here is a sound clip of the "non-chambered" version of that exhaust.

I have LT headers, no cats, no resonator, no mufflers, and an x pipe in the middle. It sounds great at idle, increadible at WOT, and sometimes a little annoying at part throttle acceleration. It is loud and will attract attention. I may think about reinstalling mufflers after I change the cam. If you are doing just the muffler elims, go for it. It is less noisy than some of the mufflers I have heard. You shouldn't have any problems. Corsa seems to be the prefered sound from an entire exhaust system but it is very expensive. I'd rather save money and the less restriction the better. IMO

Yes, stock manifolds through stock cats, the rest is straight through 2.75" exhaust with H pipe.
