So the runners I waited for over 3 months on back order finally came in. While torque them down one cracked on me.
They are the edelbrock high flow runners (Aluminum). It cracked on the drivers side runner where the mounting bolt goes at the very top on the right side of the runner. I was really suprised it happened as I only had 20 foot pounds on the trq wrench. The runner basically hung on the fuel rail :-(
Can I JB weld the crack or solder it (exterior part)? If this wont work and it has to be welded any suggestions on where I could go (Austin TX)? It hasn't affected it structurally but I don't want to have a chance for a leak.
Any welding shop should be able to weld it. You will have to work the welded surface so it is flat. I broke my AC mount, took the guy about 10 minutes to fix it. Cost me $10.00.
Thats kind of where my mind was at. Granted at 20 pounts of trq with alm threads it "shouldn't" crack but it was my bad for not checking the clearances before clamping down. Learned my lesson on working on the car at 3am.
Thank you everyone for the advise. I'll pull them off and take it to a shop to weld.
