I am putting a ZF-6 in a 1986 Coupe and using the driveshaft that came with the tranny. I am first going to replace the universals, but once I am ready to install the driveshaft, I am wondering about phasing the shaft so that it goes in at the right angle and is vibration free. Are there any guides or instructions out there or is it not a concern due to putting a 1994 tranny and parts into a 1986 C-4.
it shouldn't be a problem. the drive shaft on these vettes are solid (other type driveshafts are 2pc with a slip joint inside the driveshaft).
since the vette's driveshaft slip joint is into the transmission it would be impossible to put it together out of phase. although I would match mark the yoke to the driveshaft to insure that the balance stays correct.
