If I read between the sales pitch lines, I think the 20 hp is with the runners attached to their lower intake base. As part of a system. (?)
Re: SLP Performance Intake Runners.....Worth it? (89 Paul in cal)
20-25hp sounds a LOT more like a base and runner combo. i can't see a runner giving 20hp as the base still chokes. 20-25 on the combo i'd believe & sounds about right. but as good of deal as the edelbrock kit is..i don't think i'd ever buy slp
I just installed the Ed lower base last week. I am still working out some tuning bugs. Check the thirdgen.org site. Good info there about these runners and intakes.
Just came back here and responded to info requests. My e-mail server came back with one rejection so if anyone didn't get the requested data please e-mail me. If you got duplicates, excuse me.
I put a set of these SLP’s high flow, cast aluminum TPI intake runners on my 90 GTA Trans Am when I own it new in 90. The car had about 1500 miles on it when I put them on. In totally stock form the car ran 14.68 @ 96.58 mph, after putting on the runners it ran 14.41 @ 99.33 mph. The runner was the only thing I changed. The times were ran at Sac Raceway back in 1990 when I had this car. Got rid of the car since then and upgraded to the ZR-1.
held off puttin mine on because of injector hittin runner , (put headers , manifold & svo inj. on at same time) had to file runners to clear inj. body on both sides, will try again when I get time, also cold start inj. is a pain to put back. :smash:
