Completed several hours of research, great setup and from what I have read performance is great. Now the down side too tall for the stock hood, either buy a new hood and paint to match, or have someone cut-down the height $$$. Furthermore the cost $2800.00 non-polished non-vortec (I need vortec) $3300.00 polished vortec. If I could get an accurate $ / hp gain loss it may not be a wise decision.

Hope this helps JMO

Slots between MR/LT1 and SuperRam intake, but doesnt fit under C4 hood in factory form.

If it did, more people would use it.

Summit has the vortec HSR for my car, and I have been told by other members of this forum that it will not fit under a stock c-4 hood.

$3200.00

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Thanks

If you have to cut a hole in the hood just how stealthy is it?

Sounds like a misnomer to me.

You have TPI, so you don't need 80% of the crap that comes with that kit. You don't need the ecm, the harness, the injectors, blah blah blah. All you need is the manifold base, the plenum, the fuel rails, and a couple odds & ends. The manifold base, plenum and fuel rails will set you back roughly $600-700, and it's chump change for the other stuff like fuel lines, adapters, water neck, fuel pressure regulator, etc. Do a search here, at stealthram.com or on thirdgen.org and you'll find everything you need to know, right down to parts lists with part numbers.

That link is complete with harness, injectors, controller, etc...

Here is the low cost solution:

You will still need fuel rails and fab work, but you will come out with a lot less expense.

I thought I read in the past some time ago that someone came up with an alternate base to make the HSR fit under the stock hood without any issues. it was milled down or from another model car engine or something and was a cheap alternative to the one that comes with it that is too tall.

I could be wrong... or maybe it was for one of the other intakes.

I see the comment about fab work. The application lists ending year 86 (due to interference with factory heads?) Is that the fab work?

Also, its funny that the requirements are a 58mm or LT1 throttle body. With an "application ending year" of 86, it's a little ironic.....

Change of intake bolt angle on SBC after '86 EXCEPT Vettes

fab work? Related to modifying the plenum so as it sits lower and clears C4 hood. See LD85

www.stealthram.com ; lots of good info.

Frequently HSR's going cheap over on 3rd Gen
$600 -$800 complete
