Had an engine service light on a 1996 Corvette coupe, it showed a P0161 code via a Scangauge2. According to my service manual this is a heater circuit code. I reset the warning light and it has not come back on. Not sure what caused it to display the engine service light, so I am wondering if I should be worried? I appreciate any help.
It concerns the internal heater in the O2 sensor Bank 2 Sensor 2 (right exhaust bank rear sensor-behind cat. conv.).
Will it set it again? Most likely. It's an easy fix, when it does replace the sensor and clear the code.
Thanks for the answer. I think I will wait and see if it throws the code again before replacing the sensor. Who knows maybe it won't. Just for information, what does this internal heater do for the 02 sensor?
vinnies87,
Just so you know I did do a search and is the reason I posted here, because I could not find the answer using the search function.
