Default Standard C4 Distributor - LT1 Conversion

Hi all, I've got an LT1 intake manifold thats been converted to fit on an L98 SBC Gen1.

What I want to know thought is will my distributor fit? or is extra clearence work needed? I've seen some pictures with a standard disributor and others with a coil-less version.

Any deffinative answer on this?

Dan

With enough clearancing the larger distributor will fit. I mocked up a large cap HEI in my modified LT1 intake the other day and it will fit. The stock LT1 fuel lines are tight, but it will go.

ohh, I thought you were just wondering about the adaptation of an LT1 intake to a standard distributor, not a specific kind of distributor.

GL on your hunt! Sorry I couldn't help

Search the archives of the parts for sale section. There's a red one that is clearanced for a large-cap HEI. I think redrose had it made and sold it to 89corvettefx3 who then sold it again.

i had my egr bosses completly machined off, and made an aluminum plate to cover the existing holes. Almost exactly like Vaders website shows with the lt1 conversion article.

The LT1 fuel outlets are all wrong anyway for a L98.Better to fit AN fittings to rails and use remote regulator.
After the machining above ,stock HEI fits but has little room to rotate which is why most conversions use the F body dist with remote coil.

l98 dizzy works fine if lt1 manifold egr mount is cut off...my machinist mills it off on a vertical mill (bridgeport) but you can butcher it off with just a hacksaw and lots of elbow grease (aka budwise)...a 1-3/4'' rubber expanding core (freeze) plug can be trimmed to fit the ''center'' transfer hole that is exposed when the egr mount is ''massaged'' away.

use common ol' 1/2'' galvanized 90* elbows at the rear water exits --not pretty, but hidden in final install and NOTHING flows anywhere near as good.
