Default Auto for track day use

Has anyone ever used an LT1/auto for track day use? Maybe with a manual shift body. Any thoughts on this one?

I use my auto on the track. Just make sure to throw a trans cooler on.

Have you put any kind of a shift kit or manual **** body in it. Trans cooler is a great idea. Which one did you use? Where did you you put it. Any other track mods to your car? I put together an '87 vert. for track use a few years ago and it work out well. It was a 4+3. I have an LT1/auto so I thought I would use what I have. I may wind up changing to a 6 speed but not yet.

I started a topic here awhile ago with some trans temp data:

I made a video this spring to, my brakes had failed though:

I don't have a ton to spend on this so I put extra toward track days, witch cost a lot. I did put in a TCI shift kit and B&M cooler. I think that a cooler with a fan would be better because the temp doesn't go down quickly at low speed. If you do a shift kit, make sure to replace the seperator plate. I have done some mods and plan more. For next season I need to throw an oil cooler on, I am thinking of mounting that where the spare tire was.

@Aardwolf: its along way to the spare tire location, why not put it front of the radiator ?

I have a trans cooler there already. It's about the same distance to the rear. I would like to put any weight that I add in the right rear of the car to help with balance.
