A small block Chevy is a small block Chevy. I suggest you find a nice post-1987 roller L31 Vortec truck motor and use your top end on it (heads and TPI intake). Sell the Vortec heads and intake off the pull out and recover some of your money. A nice fresh pull out would go for $500-$1000 these days. In a day or two later after, you should be back on the road! Good luck man... Workin' on these Chevy's is startin' to be a passion for me! Wish you were in FL.

Default vortec engine

do not try to use a vortec short block with your 113 heads. the car was originally set up with 58cc heads and dished pistons. The vortecs were 72cc heads and flat top pistons.
58cc heads with flat tops mean trouble. if you want, use the entire vortec engine, and buy a Scroggin-Dickey Tpi vortec intake manifold, and just bolt everything back together.
1. you still have your old car, and it will run so much better that you will eventually either fix it up or
2. sell it to some kid.
