The stock wheels on my 96 have some of the clearcoat chipped and damaged. Is it possible to strip and recoat them as a do-it-yourself quality job? Are there any good products for this out there? Thanks :chevy

Re: refurbish clearcoat on wheels (bogus)
I fixed a couple of small scrapes and used a clear coat spray in a can specifically for wheels I bought at O'Reilly's. Worked for about a year, then started coming off. Its only on the very edge and not really noticable yet.
I am afraid the only long time fix is to use a commercial clear such as PPG Deltron. This a 3 part urethane paint used by professional body shops. I have used it in the past and it is extremely durable, but is expensive.
A number of products will strip the factory clear coats and they are available at automotive paint supply shops such as English color in our neck of the woods.
